It is superfluous to insist on the importance of the materials that constitute a welding electrode. If the base metal must undoubtedly be suitable for that which constitutes the material on whose surface it is to be applied, the importance of the coating is also decisive, both to achieve an adequate ionization of the air that favors the stability of the arc, and to create an adequate layer of molten slag that protects the weld bead adequately.
