APPLICATION
VP 116 is an in stream inoculant for the inoculation of cast iron with nodular graph- ite. This inoculant has been specially developed for molten metal treated with pure magnesium. This applies particularly to treatments in the GF converter or treat- ments with pure magnesium wire. The chemical analysis of the VP-116 takes into consideration the unique features of molten metal treated with pure magnesium. Because of the low sulfur and low oxygen content of such molten metal, a strong inoculation effect is needed, especially through a corresponding Al addition. The chill and carbide formation is also suppressed in rapidly solidifying wall thicknesses.

ADDITION RATE
The amount added is about 0.05 – 0.20% by weight.

- 0,124 – 0,7 mm* (in-stream inoculation)
- 0,6 – 2 mm (ladle inoculation)
- 2 – 6 mm (ladle inoculation)
* At this size, the Si level is slightly below the value specified above.

VP 116 can be stored without restriction in its original packaging. Contact with moisture must be avoided. The regulations governing hazardous substances must be observed.
